Cloud Lead Engineer (Google Cloud Platform)
Build the cloud platform that powers the next generation of data-driven products.
At Xccelerated we are looking for a Cloud Lead Engineer who wants to play a key role in shaping and scaling a modern cloud platform. In this role you will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, helping design the foundations of a cloud environment that supports critical data and engineering workloads.
You will work closely with a team of experienced engineers to define platform architecture, infrastructure automation, and engineering standards that enable development teams to build and innovate faster.
The challenge
Our client is in the middle of a major cloud transformation. Together we are building a secure, scalable and high-performing cloud platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that will support the organisation’s growing data ecosystem and digital capabilities.
Rather than maintaining an existing environment, you will help shape the core platform foundations:
- cloud infrastructure
- networking
- identity and access management
- automation and infrastructure as code
- platform reliability and scalability
As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you will have real influence on how the platform evolves and how engineering teams interact with the cloud.
What you will work on
As a Cloud Lead Engineer you will:
- Design and evolve the cloud platform architecture on Google Cloud Platform
- Define infrastructure standards and best practices using Infrastructure as Code
- Build and maintain Terraform modules that support scalable cloud environments
- Improve networking, security and IAM structures within the platform
- Guide and support engineers working on the platform and cloud workloads
- Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers and architects to enable cloud-native development
- Improve automation, observability and platform reliability
- Drive technical decisions that improve scalability, performance and cost efficiency
Technology stack
You will work with technologies such as:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Terraform
- Kubernetes / container platforms
- CI/CD pipelines
- Infrastructure automation
- Cloud networking and security
- Observability and monitoring tooling
This is you
You are an engineer who enjoys building platforms that enable others to move faster.
You likely have:
- 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure or platform engineering
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- A solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM and infrastructure design
- Experience working with container platforms such as Kubernetes
- The ability to guide engineers and contribute to architectural decisions
- A hands-on mindset combined with strong communication skills
