Overview:

A leading global financial institution is seeking an Operations Engineer to support its Fixed Income trading systems within the Markets & Treasury technology landscape. This role is part of a cross-functional, DevOps-driven squad responsible for delivering seamless, real-time trading capabilities for fixed income products such as bonds and commercial paper.

The successful candidate will work closely with front-office stakeholders, providing first- to third-line support on the trading floor while also contributing to ongoing change initiatives, platform stability, and automation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Support & Maintenance:

  • Act as the primary technical support for sales and trading users on the ION MarketView platform.
  • Monitor system health, resolve incidents, and manage service tickets across multiple communication channels.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external vendors for issue resolution and system enhancements.
  • Maintain system availability in line with SLA requirements, including participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Perform platform monitoring, routine housekeeping, and documentation of runbooks and SOPs.

Change & DevOps Initiatives:

  • Support agile delivery of system enhancements, upgrades, and deployments.
  • Participate in system testing, change management, and risk assessments for production changes.
  • Drive automation of manual processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate test environments and promote best practices in incident, problem, and change management.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience supporting front-office trading platforms, preferably in Fixed Income or FX domains.
  • Hands-on expertise with ION MarketView and familiarity with MMI, PXE, VMO, VMQ, Risk, and STP modules.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, SQL, networking, and scripting for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in electronic trading environments (D2C/D2D), pre/post-trade regulatory reporting (e.g., MiFID), and STP flows.
  • Solid understanding of incident, problem, and change management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Bloomberg TOMS or similar trading systems is advantageous.
  • Background in infrastructure or middleware supporting electronic trading platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA, CI/CD pipelines).

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).
  • ITIL certification or equivalent operational process frameworks is a plus.

Additional Information:

  • This role is based onsite on the trading floor in Utrecht with occasional remote support or out-of-hours duties.
  • Travel to other office locations may be required on occasion.
