About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in static equipment to join our client in the Rotterdam area for a contractor role. In this position, you will contribute to the development and optimization of mechanical systems for energy and industrial projects, including modular process solutions. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality engineering solutions.

Important: We are specifically looking for candidates who are already based in the Netherlands and available to work 5 days per week on-site at the office in the Rotterdam area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement engineering methods, technical procedures, and design strategies in line with international standards and project specifications.
  • Perform mechanical design, calculations, and verification activities for static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, tanks, and structural components.
  • Deliver engineering documents, analyses, and technical reports within agreed timelines and quality expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, engineering best practices, and project requirements.
  • Manage interfaces between mechanical systems and other engineering disciplines.
  • Apply lessons learned, evaluate design improvements, and ensure proper integration across project boundaries.
  • Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and external parties during design, selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support inspections, testing, FAT/SAT activities, commissioning, and performance evaluations of static equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant experience with static equipment design and engineering is required.
  • Experience in oil & gas, offshore, hydrogen, or modular process systems is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering calculation tools, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, ISO, EN codes for pressure equipment and structural components.
  • Experience working with vendors and managing technical documentation.
  • Must already be residing in the Netherlands.
  • Available to work full-time on-site (5 days per week) in the Rotterdam area.

Technical Competencies

  • Engineering design & analysis tools (e.g., PV Elite, Compress, ANSYS or similar).
  • Static equipment design and specification.
  • Pressure vessel and heat exchanger calculations.
  • Package engineering and vendor coordination.
  • Mechanical systems integration.
  • Equipment inspection, FAT/SAT, and commissioning support.
  • Reliability, safety, and operability assessments.
  • Concept and detailed design development.
